The Special Committee on Aging This is the site for the Senate’s Special Committee on Aging. Although special committees have no legislative authority, this committee will submit findings and recommendations for legislation to the Senate. This committee has been responsible for calling the Congress’ and the nation’s attention to many problems affecting older Americans. The website contains information on all the bills that relate to older Americans. It also has complete committee hearings that you are able to read or listen to. There is a section to report fraud and abuse of program designed to help older Americans as well as a section with consumer tips. This site is a must for anyone researching issues relating to older Americans. |

Thomas (Legislative Information) This site is a service of the Library of Congress and contains information regarding federal legislative activities from the 93rd Congress and forward. The search function allows you to enter either a bill number or a phrase. It also contains the most recent issue of the Congressional Record as well roll call votes for the both the House and the Senate for the current session as well as previous sessions. It has a listing of all the House and Senate Committees with links to the home pages of those committees. It is a most informative site. |

Aging Well--A Health and Wellness Village for Mature Adults Although this is a considered a consumer site, there is much information available for healthcare professionals and researchers. There is a link to the Gallup organization, which reports on current public opinion of political issues. The “Research Shelves” section contains links to health related research journals containing article abstracts and in some cases the full-text article. The “News Stand” section contains free access to major newspapers such as the Wall Street Journal and a variety of magazines such as Time. For older consumers there is information on every topic imaginable, exercise, nutrition, illnesses, medications, etc. |
